Worked example

- Define: $N=n_{AA}+n_{Aa}+n_{aa}$; $p=\dfrac{2n_{AA}+n_{Aa}}{2N}$; $q=1-p$.
- Inputs: $n_{AA}=18$, $n_{Aa}=22$, $n_{aa}=10$.
- Sample size: $N=18+22+10=50$.
- Total allele copies: $2N=2\cdot50=100$.
- Count A-alleles: $2n_{AA}+n_{Aa}=2\cdot18+22=36+22=58$.
- Compute $p$: $p=\dfrac{58}{100}=0.58$ (58%).
- Compute $q$: $q=1-p=1-0.58=0.42$ (42%).
- Answer: $\boxed{p=0.58\;(58\%),\; q=0.42\;(42\%)}$.
