Question: EXERCICE : 2 Puissance de matrices
On considère la matrice $A$
$A = \begin{pmatrix} -2 & -2 & 1 \\ 3 & 5 & -3 \\ 5 & 10 & -6 \end{pmatrix}$
1) Déterminer la matrice $M$ telle que : $A = M - I_3$
2) Calculer $M^2$ et en déduire $A^2$.
Résoudre
1. **Énoncé du problème** :
On a la matrice
$$A = \begin{pmatrix} -2 & -2 & 1 \\ 3 & 5 & -3 \\ 5 & 10 & -6 \end{pmatrix}$$
et on cherche une matrice $M$ telle que
$$A = M - I_3$$
où $I_3$ est la matrice identité $3 \times 3$.
2. **Trouver $M$** :
On a
$$M = A + I_3$$
car en ajoutant $I_3$ des deux côtés de $A = M - I_3$, on obtient $M = A + I_3$.
La matrice identité $I_3$ est
$$I_3 = \begin{pmatrix} 1 & 0 & 0 \\ 0 & 1 & 0 \\ 0 & 0 & 1 \end{pmatrix}$$
Donc
$$M = \begin{pmatrix} -2 & -2 & 1 \\ 3 & 5 & -3 \\ 5 & 10 & -6 \end{pmatrix} + \begin{pmatrix} 1 & 0 & 0 \\ 0 & 1 & 0 \\ 0 & 0 & 1 \end{pmatrix} = \begin{pmatrix} -2+1 & -2+0 & 1+0 \\ 3+0 & 5+1 & -3+0 \\ 5+0 & 10+0 & -6+1 \end{pmatrix} = \begin{pmatrix} -1 & -2 & 1 \\ 3 & 6 & -3 \\ 5 & 10 & -5 \end{pmatrix}$$
3. **Calculer $M^2$** :
On calcule $M^2 = M \times M$.
$$M = \begin{pmatrix} -1 & -2 & 1 \\ 3 & 6 & -3 \\ 5 & 10 & -5 \end{pmatrix}$$
Calcul des éléments de $M^2$ :
- Première ligne, première colonne :
$$(-1)\times(-1) + (-2)\times 3 + 1\times 5 = 1 - 6 + 5 = 0$$
- Première ligne, deuxième colonne :
$$(-1)\times(-2) + (-2)\times 6 + 1\times 10 = 2 - 12 + 10 = 0$$
- Première ligne, troisième colonne :
$$(-1)\times 1 + (-2)\times (-3) + 1\times (-5) = -1 + 6 - 5 = 0$$
- Deuxième ligne, première colonne :
$$3\times(-1) + 6\times 3 + (-3)\times 5 = -3 + 18 - 15 = 0$$
- Deuxième ligne, deuxième colonne :
$$3\times(-2) + 6\times 6 + (-3)\times 10 = -6 + 36 - 30 = 0$$
- Deuxième ligne, troisième colonne :
$$3\times 1 + 6\times (-3) + (-3)\times (-5) = 3 - 18 + 15 = 0$$
- Troisième ligne, première colonne :
$$5\times(-1) + 10\times 3 + (-5)\times 5 = -5 + 30 - 25 = 0$$
- Troisième ligne, deuxième colonne :
$$5\times(-2) + 10\times 6 + (-5)\times 10 = -10 + 60 - 50 = 0$$
- Troisième ligne, troisième colonne :
$$5\times 1 + 10\times (-3) + (-5)\times (-5) = 5 - 30 + 25 = 0$$
Ainsi,
$$M^2 = \begin{pmatrix} 0 & 0 & 0 \\ 0 & 0 & 0 \\ 0 & 0 & 0 \end{pmatrix}$$
4. **En déduire $A^2$** :
On a
$$A = M - I_3$$
Donc
$$A^2 = (M - I_3)^2 = M^2 - 2M + I_3$$
car
$$(M - I_3)^2 = M^2 - M I_3 - I_3 M + I_3^2 = M^2 - M - M + I_3 = M^2 - 2M + I_3$$
On remplace $M^2$ par la matrice nulle :
$$A^2 = 0 - 2M + I_3 = -2M + I_3$$
Calculons $-2M + I_3$ :
$$-2M = -2 \times \begin{pmatrix} -1 & -2 & 1 \\ 3 & 6 & -3 \\ 5 & 10 & -5 \end{pmatrix} = \begin{pmatrix} 2 & 4 & -2 \\ -6 & -12 & 6 \\ -10 & -20 & 10 \end{pmatrix}$$
Donc
$$A^2 = \begin{pmatrix} 2 & 4 & -2 \\ -6 & -12 & 6 \\ -10 & -20 & 10 \end{pmatrix} + \begin{pmatrix} 1 & 0 & 0 \\ 0 & 1 & 0 \\ 0 & 0 & 1 \end{pmatrix} = \begin{pmatrix} 3 & 4 & -2 \\ -6 & -11 & 6 \\ -10 & -20 & 11 \end{pmatrix}$$
