**Surah Muḥammad, Surah 47, Ayah 18**
فَهَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا ٱلسَّاعَةَ أَن تَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةًۭ ۖ فَقَدْ جَآءَ أَشْرَاطُهَا ۚ فَأَنَّىٰ لَهُمْ إِذَا جَآءَتْهُمْ ذِكْرَىٰهُمْ
**Translation:**
Are they waiting except for the Hour to come upon them suddenly? But its signs have already come. So what good will their remembrance be when it has come to them?

Allah is telling us that the Day of Judgment will come suddenly, and some of its signs have already appeared. This reminds us to be ready and not be careless.

**Surah Al-An‘ām, Surah 6, Ayah 158**
هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّآ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ أَوْ يَأْتِىَ رَبُّكَ أَوْ يَأْتِىَ بَعْضُ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّكَ ۗ يَوْمَ يَأْتِى بَعْضُ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّكَ لَا يَنفَعُ نَفْسًا إِيمَٰنُهَا لَمْ تَكُنْ ءَامَنَتْ مِن قَبْلُ أَوْ كَسَبَتْ فِىٓ إِيمَٰنِهَا خَيْرًۭا
**Translation:**
Are they waiting except that the angels should come to them, or your Lord should come, or some of the signs of your Lord should come? The day some of the signs of your Lord come, no soul will benefit from its faith if it had not believed before or earned good through its faith.
**Simple Meaning:**
This ayah warns that once some great signs happen, it may be too late to start believing. So we should believe now and do good deeds now.

**Surah An-Naml, Surah 27, Ayah 82**
وَإِذَا وَقَعَ ٱلْقَوْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ أَخْرَجْنَا لَهُمْ دَآبَّةًۭ مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ تُكَلِّمُهُمْ أَنَّ ٱلنَّاسَ كَانُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا لَا يُوقِنُونَ
**Translation:**
And when the decree falls upon them, We will bring forth for them a creature from the earth that will speak to them, because the people were not certain of Our signs.
**Simple Meaning:**
This is one of the major signs of the Hour. Allah says a strange creature will appear and speak to people, showing them that the Day is very near.

**Sahih Muslim, Hadith 2901, Sahih**
لَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى تَرَوْنَ عَشْرَ آيَاتٍ: فَذَكَرَ الدُّخَانَ، وَالدَّجَّالَ، وَالدَّابَّةَ، وَطُلُوعَ الشَّمْسِ مِنْ مَغْرِبِهَا، وَنُزُولَ عِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ، وَيَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ، وَثَلَاثَةَ خُسُوفٍ: خَسْفًا بِالْمَشْرِقِ، وَخَسْفًا بِالْمَغْرِبِ، وَخَسْفًا بِجَزِيرَةِ الْعَرَبِ، وَآخِرَ ذَلِكَ نَارٌ تَخْرُجُ مِنْ الْيَمَنِ تَطْرُدُ النَّاسَ إِلَى مَحْشَرِهِمْ
**Hadith Meaning:**
The Prophet ﷺ said the Hour will not begin until ten major signs appear: the smoke, the Dajjal, the beast, the sun rising from the west, the descent of Isa ibn Maryam, Ya’juj and Ma’juj, three landslides, and a fire that drives people to their gathering place.
**Simple Explanation:**
This hadith gives a clear list of major signs of the Day of Judgment. These are big events that show the world is coming to an end.
5. **Scholars’ Explanation:**
**Ibn Kathir** in *Al-Bidayah wa an-Nihayah* explained that the major signs are extraordinary events that happen near the end of the world and warn people to repent.
**Al-Qurtubi** in *At-Tadhkirah* said these signs are from Allah’s power and are meant to wake people up before it is too late.
**Simple Explanation:**
Scholars teach that the major signs are not for curiosity only. They are a mercy warning so people return to Allah.
