How to Submit Your Summer Portfolio
Please ensure you organize and present your hard work neatly. Follow these guidelines to submit your completed 6-week program:
Progress Checks: Ensure all 6 Weekly Progress Checks have your name, date, and your step-by-step working out clearly written or typed in the spaces provided or on a blank document.
Weekly Projects & Deliverables: For handmade or physical projects (like the Scale Drawing of My Dream Room on grid paper or the Geometry Scrapbook Page), take high-quality, well-lit photos or scan them. For digital creations (like your Fraction Recipe Book or Class Data Story charts), save them as PDFs or image files.
Compilation: Combine your progress checks and project pages into a single folder or a single multi-page PDF document.
Naming Format: Name your final file following this layout:
Year7_Maths_Summer_Program_Firstname_Lastname.pdf.
Where to Hand It In: Upload your completed file to our school learning portal (Google Classroom) no later than Saturday 15th of August.
Hard Copy & Discussion (In-Person): Hand a printed hard copy of your portfolio to your Maths teacher during the first week of school. Following your submission, a brief discussion regarding your portfolio will be held with your teacher and/or the Head of Department (HOD).

End-of-Week Project: My Fraction Recipe Book
Create a mini recipe book (at least 3 recipes) where every ingredient amount is written as a fraction or mixed number. For each recipe, calculate: (a) the quantities needed if you double the recipe, and (b) what 75% of each quantity would be. Present it neatly — draw it, type it, or use any creative format you like!

Answer: 1 1/2
1. **Problem:** Write $\frac{3}{4}$ as a decimal.
2. **Solution:** To convert a fraction to a decimal, divide the numerator by the denominator.
$$\frac{3}{4} = 3 \div 4$$
3. **Calculation:**
$$3 \div 4 = 0.75$$
4. **Answer:** $0.75$.
1. **Problem:** Simplify the fraction $\frac{18}{24}$ to its lowest terms.
2. **Solution:** Find the greatest common divisor (GCD) of $18$ and $24$.
$$\text{GCD}(18, 24) = 6$$
3. **Divide numerator and denominator by GCD:**
$$\frac{18}{24} = \frac{\cancel{6} \times 3}{\cancel{6} \times 4} = \frac{3}{4}$$
4. **Answer:** $\frac{3}{4}$.
1. **Problem:** Find $\frac{2}{5}$ of $60$.
2. **Solution:** Multiply $60$ by $\frac{2}{5}$.
$$60 \times \frac{2}{5}$$
3. **Calculation:**
$$60 \times \frac{2}{5} = \frac{60 \times 2}{5} = \frac{120}{5} = 24$$
4. **Answer:** $24$.
1. **Problem:** Calculate $\frac{1}{3} + \frac{1}{4}$.
2. **Solution:** Find a common denominator, which is $12$.
3. **Rewrite fractions:**
$$\frac{1}{3} = \frac{4}{12}, \quad \frac{1}{4} = \frac{3}{12}$$
4. **Add:**
$$\frac{4}{12} + \frac{3}{12} = \frac{7}{12}$$
5. **Answer:** $\frac{7}{12}$.
1. **Problem:** Convert $0.65$ to a fraction in simplest form.
2. **Solution:** Write $0.65$ as $\frac{65}{100}$.
3. **Simplify:**
$$\frac{65}{100} = \frac{\cancel{5} \times 13}{\cancel{5} \times 20} = \frac{13}{20}$$
4. **Answer:** $\frac{13}{20}$.
1. **Problem:** Sara eats $3$ slices out of $8$ equal slices of pizza. What percentage did she eat?
2. **Solution:** Calculate the fraction eaten and convert to percentage.
$$\frac{3}{8}$$
3. **Convert to decimal:**
$$\frac{3}{8} = 0.375$$
4. **Convert to percentage:**
$$0.375 \times 100 = 37.5\%$$
5. **Answer:** $37.5\%$.
1. **Problem:** Find $30\%$ of $240$.
2. **Solution:** Convert percentage to decimal and multiply.
$$30\% = 0.30$$
3. **Calculate:**
$$0.30 \times 240 = 72$$
4. **Answer:** $72$.
1. **Problem:** A recipe needs $\frac{3}{4}$ cup of sugar. If you make $2$ batches, how much sugar do you need in total? Write your answer as a mixed number.
2. **Solution:** Multiply $2$ by $\frac{3}{4}$.
$$2 \times \frac{3}{4} = \frac{2 \times 3}{4} = \frac{6}{4}$$
3. **Simplify:**
$$\frac{6}{4} = \frac{\cancel{2} \times 3}{\cancel{2} \times 2} = \frac{3}{2}$$
4. **Convert to mixed number:**
$$\frac{3}{2} = 1 \frac{1}{2}$$
5. **Answer:** $1 \frac{1}{2}$ cups of sugar.
